Where was Tesla founded?

I’m fascinated by Elon Musk and Tesla, but I don’t know much about how the company started. Where was Tesla originally founded?

Tesla was originally founded by Elon Musk in San Carlos, California, on July 1, 2003. However, the automaker no longer has operations in that city. Following the founding of the company, the headquarters moved to Palo Alto, California, and then moved again to its current location in Austin, Texas.
The manufacturing and assembly facility was also in San Carlos, but moved to an old General Motors plant in Fremont, California, in 2010.
