Where was Porsche founded?

I love exotic cars and Porsche has always been one of my favorites. While I understand more of the technical side of these vehicles, I’ve never thought about the history of the company, but I always want to learn more. Where did Porsche originate?

Porsche was founded in Stuttgart, Germany, on April 25, 1931, by Ferdinand Porsche.
An automotive engineer by trade, Porsche initially started the company as an automotive consulting and design firm. It wasn’t until 1939 that Porsche actually started to design its own cars, highlighted by the Porsche 64—the original Porsche prototype.
Interestingly, the Porsche consulting firm was integral in developing the Volkswagen Beetle—one of the most popular vehicles of all time. After 1939, the company turned to the war effort. Following the end of WWII and the rebuilding of the German economy, Porsche eventually built its first production car—the 1948 Porsche 356—which can fetch about $100,000 at auction today.
