Although Fiat vehicles returned to the United States market in 2011, Fiat was originally founded on July 11, 1899 by Giovanni Agnelli in Turin, Italy, where its operations remain today. While Fiat North America is headquartered in Auburn Hills, Michigan, Turin still produces the most Fiat vehicles.
Fiat was part of the American automotive marketplace decades ago. However, the company pulled out in 1983 after sluggish sales. Once the company purchased Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-RAM, it brought the Fiat nameplate back to critical acclaim from both reviewers and drivers alike.
