Where to stay when driving to New York City?

I’m driving up to New York City over the weekend, and I wanted to make a road trip out of it. Can you recommend some places to stay on my way?

There are a lot of great places to stay in
New York City
, but where to stay on your way there will depend on where you’re coming from.
You mentioned “up,” so we’ll assume you’ll be coming through
Pennsylvania
,
New Jersey
,
Maryland
, or
Delaware
.
Here are some suggestions for where to stay when driving to New York City from any of those four states:
  • The Inn at Herrington Harbor (North Beach, Maryland)—marinas, kayak rentals, and a one-mile nature trail offer plenty of relaxation after a long day of driving.
  • Boardwalk Plaza Hotel, Rehoboth Beach (Rehoboth Beach, Delaware)—low-priced luxury right on the beach. Try to make it for $3 mimosas with Sunday brunch!
  • The Inn at Birch Wilds (Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania)—it may be haunted, but comfy rooms, sweeping vistas, and mouthwatering food make the wailing worth it!
  • Summer Nites (North Wildwood, New Jersey)—50s-themed rooms, delicious diner food, and vintage games. Try to make it for Elvis Weekend in April!
A road trip to New York City calls for first-class accommodations on the way, but these options give you all the fun without all the cost. Speaking of saving money, why not let
