Where should I throw used engine oil?

I drained my engine oil at home during an oil change. Now I have a bucket of dirty old oil. What am I supposed to do with it? Where should I throw used engine oil?

Proper disposal of engine oil is very important. You’ll need to throw your used engine oil away at a special used oil recycling site.
Once you’ve collected your used oil (hopefully in a sealable oil pan), you’ll need to take it to a certified collection center (CCC). These centers will responsibly recycle your oil for you.
CCC’s can be found at hazardous waste collection sites run by your city or state. Most auto-parts stores are also authorized to collect oil.
While oil changes won’t be covered, a strong
