Where should I start when trying to find car insurance?

I just found out my dad doesn't have insurance on his car or my brother's financed car. I've never purchased insurance before, so I'm not sure where to start. I looked online and a lot of carriers want my dad's personal info. I wasn't sure if it was safe and I want to find the cheapest way to get the cars insured.

“It’s standard for insurance companies to ask for personal information like your name, address, date of birth, and the vehicles you need coverage for. It’s completely safe for you to provide them with this information.
Insurance companies take many things into consideration, including personal information, when determining a rate for someone.
The cost of insurance also depends on the type of coverage needed. If a vehicle is financed, it usually requires
collision coverage
and
comprehensive coverage
. This is more expensive than having only
liability insurance
.
If you need to find
cheap car insurance
, you’ll want to reach out to a few different carriers and see what rates they can offer. They can also help you adjust coverages to ensure you have a rate you can afford with the coverage you require. “
