I am trying to help my uncle diagnose his check engine line. I have a reader but I’ve never used it on a BMW before. Where is the BMW X1 OBD port location?

The BMW X1 OBD port location is under the dashboard on the driver’s side, to the lower left of the steering wheel.

First sold in 2009, the X1 crossover SUV has evolved in style and variants. You might drive a Sport Line X1, an xLine X1, or an M Sport X1.

But even luxury vehicles sometimes run into trouble—and that’s when it’s handy to know where to find the OBD port location.

With a scanner or code reader, you can see OBD trouble codes. These codes provide more specific information about your vehicle’s problems, so you can either repair your X1 or take it to a BMW dealer.
