Where is the battery in a 2010 Chevrolet Traverse?

I read online that you’re supposed to change your car’s battery every 3-5 years, and I know my 2010 Chevrolet Traverse battery is about 5 years old. I thought I would just change it myself to save a trip to the mechanic, but I can’t find where the battery is! Where is the battery located on a 2010 Chevy Traverse?

The 2010 Chevrolet Traverse’s battery is actually located in a floor compartment behind the passenger’s seat. To access it, you’ll have to lift up the carpet, then open the compartment with a torque wrench.
If you notice any of the following issues, your battery is probably due for a replacement:
  • Your car cranks but doesn’t start
  • The electronics in your car will turn on but the engine won’t turn over
  • Your headlights have gotten dimmer
  • You hear a buzzing or clicking sound coming from the battery or under the hood
