Where is the 2019 Ford F-150’s OBD port located?

My 2019 Ford F-150’s “Check Engine” light came earlier this week—I ordered an OBD scanner to check the problem, but I’m unsure where to plug the connector in. Where is the 2019 Ford F-150’s OBD port located?

The on-board diagnostics (OBD) port in a 2019
Ford F-150
is located underneath the dashboard and steering wheel—you should see it directly above the acceleration and brake pedals. It may or may not have a safety plug to protect it from dust and other small particulate matter.
Now that you’ve located the OBD port, plug in your OBD II scanner and follow the instructions you received with the tool. Most scanners operate similarly, but some require the vehicle to be in “Idle” mode rather than “ON” while the scanner is in use, so be sure to check. After a few seconds, you should receive a list of “active” and “pending” error codes.
Every error code consists of a letter followed by four numbers—here’s a refresher on how to read each component:
  • P (Powertrain): indicates an issue with the transmission, ignition, engine, fuel system, or emissions system.
  • B (Body): indicates an issue with the seat belts, airbags, or power steering.
  • C (Chassis): indicates an issue with the axles, brake fluid, or anti-lock brake system.
  • U (Undefined): if an issue doesn’t fall into these three categories, it will appear as “undefined.”
The numbers, on the other hand, can be read as follows:
  • 1st digit: tells you if the error code is generic (0) or manufacturer-specific (1)
  • 2nd digit: refers to a specific part
  • Last two digits: tell you what the actual problem is
