Where is the 2017 Nissan Altima’s OBD port location?

My friend has a 2017 Nissan Altima, and the check engine light is on. I’ve got an OBD reader, so I thought I’d see if I could help him figure out what’s going on, but I can’t find the port to plug it in. Can you help?

Of course! I’m sorry to hear about your friend’s Altima, but it’s great that he’s got you to help him out. The onboard diagnostics (OBD) port on the 2017
Nissan Altima
is located under the dashboard directly beneath the steering wheel.
The
check engine warning light
may be on in your friend’s Altima for several reasons. Luckily, not all of them indicate the need for costly
car repairs
. A loose gas cap is one of the most common causes for this light to come on.
As we’re sure you know, though, there may be a more serious reason for your friend’s check engine light, such as:
  • Problems with one or more sensors
  • Bad
    spark plugs
    and/or wires
  • Bad (or missing) catalytic converter
Any one of these could affect a car’s performance and longevity, so don’t hesitate to
take the car to a mechanic
for a more serious issue. Sometimes, it’s best to make sure the repair is handled professionally, so as not to risk more complicated (and expensive) repairs down the road!
