Where is the 2000 Mercury Mountaineer’s fuel pump relay located?

Where can I find the fuel pump relay in my 2000 Mercury Mountaineer? In my last vehicle, it was under the hood, but that doesn’t seem to be true in this car.

In the 2000 Mercury Mountaineer, the fuel pump relay is located in the fuse box, which can be found in the engine compartment next to the battery. To access the fuse box, you’ll need to
open the hood of your car
and find the small, black box next to your car battery.
If you’re having trouble finding the fuel pump relay this way, though, you may also be able to access the fuse box from under the dashboard. Look to the side of the instrument panel on the driver’s side to locate the interior fuse box cover. Remove the cover to access the fuses and relays from the inside of your car.
