Where is Rivian based?

I’m a day trader for a living, but I also do swing trading from time to time. Long story short, I made a few bucks on Rivian when it debuted on the stock market simply from going with the momentum. However, I know nothing about the company other than it makes electric cars. Where is Rivian actually based?

Founded in June of 2009, Rivian is based in Irvine, California, the original location of its headquarters. However, the company’s main factory is in Normal, Illinois in a former Mitsubishi Motors factory. This factory produces both the R1T and R1S, which make up the entirety of Rivian’s current lineup.
Rivian has grand aspirations for its electric SUV and pickup, and it’s attempting to expand its reach. In 2021, the company announced plans to produce a $5 billion factory in Georgia. In addition, it now has offices in:
  • Wittmann, Arizona
  • Plymouth, Michigan
  • Palo Alto, California
  • Carson, California
  • Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
  • Woking, England, U.K.
The waiting period to get a Rivian of your own is about four years. So while you’ll have to wait for one, that gives you plenty of time to save up for a down payment.
