Where is Jaguar from?

I tutor two rather precocious 8 year old twin boys. We’re doing a transportation unit, and I was showing them examples of different cars, with a Jaguar sports car sprinkled into the mix. Seeing this, one of the boys asked where Jaguar is from. I hate to admit that I didn’t know the answer—can you tell me where Jaguar is from?

Jaguar is from England, and is headquartered in Coventry which sits 30 minutes east of Birmingham, and 2 hours northwest of London.
The English carmaker is actually owned by Tata Motors a multinational Indian automaker. In 2013, Tata merged Jaguar and fellow luxury English carmaker Land Rover into a single operating entity, known as Jaguar Land Rover Limited, which is responsible for the design, manufacture, and sale of both brands.
Most Jaguar vehicles are assembled in the UK at Castle Bromwich, which is near Birmingham. Jaguar engines are assembled in Wolverhampton, which also sits just outside Birmingham.
In 2016, Jaguar opened a Special Vehicle Operations Development Center, which specializes in Jaguar’s most powerful and luxurious models, including concept cars and racing vehicles.
Now, if the boys you tutor are as concerned about emission as we here at Jerry think they are, they’ll no doubt be thrilled at this tidbit of information—in 2021, the English carmaker pledged that all of its new vehicles will be electric as of 2025.
