Where can I buy a commercial policy for my pickup?

I am not familiar with commercial auto policies and need to find one for my truck. I have a new-to-me 2015 Ford F-450. My auto insurance company said it was too big for a standard policy and needed commercial insurance. I have my own handyman business, and I just haul tools and a few supplies back and forth. I am not sure where to start.

“Commercial insurance policies are slightly different from a private passenger auto policy, but you can buy one from a familiar place:
Progressive
! Progressive writes commercial auto policies in all 50 states, excluding D.C.
Even though you are a one-man operation, due to the nature of your employment and size of your truck, you don’t qualify for a standard auto policy. Any vehicle with a load capacity greater than one ton is considered commercial.
Here are some of the additional benefits you will have with a commercial policy:
  • Coverage to drive clients or future employees around
  • Coverage to transport goods and equipment
  • Automatic coverage for towing a trailer that has less than 2000 pounds gross vehicle weight
If you want help shopping for the right commercial policies for your business, try using the
