I just got hired to teach at the University of Iowa in the fall, so I’ll be moving to Iowa in a few weeks. What’s the best place to live in Iowa City, IA?

- Eastside: Situated on the quieter side of town, it’s close enough to make downtown convenient but far enough to avoid college students and gameday traffic. There are plenty of nearby parks and trails, too!
- Westside: Close to the interstate and city bus lines, the Westside of town is home to a healthy mix of all ages, from young families to older ones. The Westside is also closer to the university, as well as the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Iowa City was the highest-ranking city in the state on Livability.com’s 2021 Top 100 Best Places to Live in America. Home to the University of Iowa, high-rated healthcare, a walkable downtown, and “Iowa nice” residents, it’s no wonder folks love living here.
