Where are Suzuki engines made?

I just bought a used Suzuki Kizashi, and I’m obsessed with it. I was curious about what’s under its hood, though. Where are Suzuki engines made?

It’s always good to get to know your new (used) vehicle from the inside out! Suzuki engines are most likely made in Japan, but Suzuki diesel engines are actually made in Italy by Fiat.
If you’re curious about where your individual Kizashi comes from, you can also
check and decode your Suzuki VIN
to determine its country of origin and manufacturing facility.
Here’s how:
  • Locate your VIN either in the door jamb or on your vehicle registration
  • Find the first digit: this encodes the country of originJ indicates Japan
  • Find the eleventh digit: this encodes the manufacturing facility5, for example, means Kosai, Japan (but you can look up your specific codes online)
Now that you’ve got your new Kizashi home, you’ll want to make sure all parts of your investment, including its 2.4-liter J24B inline-4 engine, are protected with quality car insurance.
