Where are Subaru Outbacks made?

I know buying American is a little ironic if I want a Japanese car like the Subaru Outback. I’m holding out hope, though, because I heard that some Subarus are produced on American soil. Where is the Subaru Outback made?

A lot of Subaru’s production takes place overseas at assembly plants in Ota, Gunma Prefecture—but not the Outback! Instead, the Subaru Outback is made at Subaru of Indiana Automotive (SIA) in Lafayette, Indiana.
Subaru built the SIA assembly plant in 1986 in a joint venture agreement with Isuzu Automotive. Today, the plant produces about half of Subaru’s models including the Subaru Outback, Ascent, Legacy, and Impreza. The company employs 5,900 workers as of 2020, so you can trust that purchasing one of these Subarus is putting some money back into the American economy.
Figuring out details like where a car is made is a great way to narrow down your options when comparing different makes. It’s important to be a little picky, so why not also comparison shop for a great
