Where are MINI engines made?

I learned this when I bought my MINI Cooper, but now I can’t remember. Where are MINI engines manufactured?

MINI engines are made in the U.K. and Austria. BMW (MINI) manufactures all four-cylinder petrol engines in the U.K., while diesel engines are made in Austria.
MINI offers optional diesel engines on all of its models. A diesel engine will give you a much more powerful ride and can be paired with standard front-wheel drive or optional all-wheel drive in some models. (Psst—if you’re eco-conscious, you can consider using biodiesel for your diesel-powered car.)
The diesel engine option for all models can be paired with the standard six-speed automatic transmission—but for the ultimate car lover’s drive, we recommend pairing it with the optional six-speed manual transmission.
MINI’s petrol engines are available (and standard) on all MINI models and can similarly be paired with automatic or manual transmission, as well as FWD or AWD (in applicable models).
Thanks for the great question!
