I just recently purchased my first car and I know that checking my engine oil is a thing I need to do, but I don’t know how often I need to do it—when should I be checking my engine oil level?

Great question and congratulations on buying your first car! As a general rule, it is recommended you check your engine oil once every couple of weeks—definitely at least once a month—and always before embarking on a long drive or trip.
Your engine oil is one of the most important things keeping your engine functioning properly and can tell you a lot about how healthy your engine actually is—checking it every week or every other week helps prevent costly damages.
Whenever you check your oil, make sure the engine is cool and that you are parked on flat ground—this helps ensure your safety and will also give you a more accurate reading.
Regular servicing and maintenance is an important part of being a responsible car owner—but so is making sure your vehicle is protected by the right insurance policy. Licensed
