When does car insurance cover flood damage?

My Honda Accord was damaged in a flood in Texas, and I want to know if my car insurance company will cover the extent of repairs. How do I know how much coverage they will provide?

“I am sorry to hear about your car, but don’t worry; you might be fully covered for this loss. Flood damage is typically covered under your
comprehensive car insurance
policy.
With comprehensive insurance, you have a set deductible that you need to meet before your car insurance kicks in.
Let’s say your Accord has $2,000 worth of damage and your deductible is $500. You will pay the initial $500 and then your
car insurance
will cover the $1,500 difference.
In cases where your repairs are less than your deductible, it may not be worth it to file a claim and you will need to pay for the repairs out of pocket.
If the car is a total loss, your insurance provider will cut you a check for the actual cash value of the vehicle minus your comprehensive deductible. Thankfully, flood damage is a not-at-fault loss, and your insurance premium should not increase due to this claim.
If you are unhappy with the claim service or insurance rate, now is an excellent time to shop for a
cheaper insurance policy
