When does a driving conviction fall off your record?

I was pulled over about two weeks ago and received a speeding ticket. I know that speeding tickets add points to your license and can increase your insurance rates. How long do I have to wait until a driving conviction falls off my record?

Most speeding tickets should fall off your record between one and five years, depending on your state.
Some states only keep a speeding ticket on your
driving record
for one year, including:
  • Alaska
  • Arizona
  • Maine
  • Mississippi
  • New Mexico
  • Pennsylvania
  • Wyoming
At the top of the range is Hawaii, where speeding tickets remain on your record and give you
points
for a whopping 10 years.
Speeding tickets can adversely affect your
car insurance
rates. However, after the
points go off your record
, you won’t see much (if any) impact on your car insurance as a result of the ticket.
Here are some other common driving convictions and the approximate time you can expect them to fall off your record:
Remember that if your car insurance rates go up as a result of a ticket, you can
shop around
for a better rate.
