When do all cars have to be electric?

I’m in the process of shopping around for a new car, but I don’t want to invest a ton of money into a gas-powered car if they’re going to be banned soon. When do all cars have to be electric?

Buying an electric car can be a great choice for the environment and to save money on fuel, but if you live in the U.S., you still have plenty of time to buy and enjoy driving a gas-powered car.
The U.S. government plans to end gas-powered vehicle purchases by 2035 and signed a nonbinding goal that 50% of new US car sales be electric by 2030.
While you may not be able to buy a new gas-powered car after a certain time, that doesn’t mean you’ll be banned from driving one you already own.
