When did the AMC buy Jeep?

I am trying to learn about the history of Jeeps and remember seeing that the American Motors Corporation purchased the brand at some point in time, but I don’t remember what year. When did AMC buy Jeep?

Excellent question! The American Motors Corporation (AMC) bought
Jeep
in 1970 for approximately $75 million from Henry J. Kaiser, the owner of the Kaiser Jeep Corporation.
When the make was first introduced in the early 1940s, Jeeps served as military vehicles and were built by Willys-Overland, though the official “Jeep” name was not trademarked until June 13th, 1950.
In 1953, American industrialist Henry J. Kaiser bought Willys-Overland for roughly $60.8 million, at which point the company would be renamed Willys Motors Incorporated. In 1963, Kaiser changed the name again, this time to the Kaiser Jeep Corporation, before selling the company to AMC seven years later.
