The Santa Fe is a great car, my mom has one so I drive it from time to time. Hyundai has been in the EV game for about 30 years. The company started making electric cars in the 1990s with their first fully electric car released in 1991.
Hyundai’s first electric car was called the Sonata Electric Vehicle which was a lead-acid battery-powered sedan with a 44-mile (70 km) range and a top speed of 37 mph (59km). While this is not that far or fast, it is pretty remarkable for its time period.
Now technology has improved to include lithium-ion batteries instead of lead acid and range and speed have increased to up to 257 miles (415 km) and highway speed. After 30 years the company is still improving its technology to help drivers get the most out of their vehicle without the historical limitations of battery-powered cars. There’s even a Santa Fe electric if you’re ever interested!
