When did Fiat buy Jeep?

I’ve considered buying a Jeep for some time, but I didn’t realize Fiat owned them. When did that happen?

Fiat
bought
Jeep
in January 2014. The acquisition was completed on January 21 when Fiat bought Chrysler, which technically owns the Jeep brand under the Stellantis conglomerate.
Fiat first purchased a stake in Chrysler in 2009, then made a deal for minority ownership and corporate control of the company. The purchase was completed several years later after buying out stakes held by the US and Canadian Governments, along with the United Auto Workers pension fund. Eventually, it became Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles.
Stellantis is a multinational automotive manufacturing corporation formed from a 50-50 merger between Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) and the French PSA Group. In 2021, they were the fifth-largest automaker in the world.
Apart from Fiat and Jeep, Stellantis also owns:
  • Abarth
  • Alfa Romeo
  • Chrysler
  • Citroën
  • Dodge
  • DS
  • Fiat Professional
  • Lancia
  • Maserati
  • Mopar
  • Opel
  • Peugeot
  • Ram
  • Vauxhall
