When did cars first get power steering?

I love classic trucks and I want to purchase one this year but I’m on the smaller side and I know older cars don’t always have power steering. When did they start putting power steering in cars?

The first power steering system debuted in 1951 Chrysler Imperial. However, it wasn’t until the start of the 1960s that power steering was an option on all American-built vehicles. The big steering wheel without power steering was still an option into the early 1970s.
Depending on the classic truck you are interested in and whether the original owner opted for power steering, it may or may not have power steering.
