When did Audi buy Ducati?

I’m a huge fan of Ducati, and I even bought one about a year ago—it’s an amazing motorcycle! However, I also read that Audi purchased Ducati at some point and that the build quality may have changed since then. When was Ducati purchased by Audi?

Audi bought Ducati in 2012 for $981 million, which is one of the priciest mergers and acquisitions in the automotive industry of all time. More specifically, **
Volkswagen
bought Ducati, as Volkswagen Group has owned 50% of Audi since 1964 and conducted a full buyout of the luxury brand in 2020.

Lamborghini
division—yet another company owned by VW Group. Fortunately, the build quality of Ducati hasn’t faltered in the wake of acquisitions, and it’s still considered one of the top bikes in the world.
Today, Lamborghini produces about 55,000 Ducati motorcycles each year across eight different Ducati models, including:
  • Diavel
  • Hypermotard
  • Monster
  • Multistrada
  • Panigale
  • Scrambler
  • Streetfighter
  • SuperSport
