When it comes to used compact vehicles, the
Ford Fiesta ST
is a fun option! It was discontinued after 2019 (along with all other Fiesta trims), but this small, practical, value-minded car is still mighty and fierce. In fact, it reaches an impressive top speed of 144 mph. The latest version is powered by a 197-hp turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder that drives the front wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. (So you’ll have to know how to drive stick shift!) That’ll get you from 0 to 60mph in under 6.5 seconds, while still remaining pretty cheap on gas.
The Fiesta ST is cheaper than esteemed rivals like the Honda Civic Si coupe and the Volkswagen Golf GTI. That makes the Ford one of the best performance bargains money can buy.
Keep in mind that the regular Ford Fiesta won’t be nearly as peppy—its 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 120 horsepower will only take you from 0 to 60 mph in a much slower 9.1 seconds.
