What's the story with a 2006 Toyota Corolla that won't start and has no click?

My 2006 Toyota Corolla has been with me ever since I drove it off the lot. Even though it has 300,000 miles, I’ve never had any problems with it—until today. I turned the key, but the car won’t start, and it doesn’t even give me the click you get when your battery is dead. What’s the deal?

When your 2006 Toyota Corolla won’t start and has no click, the most likely culprit is the starter. The starter receives a charge from your battery and uses it to spark the engine. If you don’t hear a click, that means the starter isn’t doing its job—although you may also want to check the battery to err on the side of caution.
Fortunately, replacing a bad starter on a 2006 Toyota Corolla isn’t nearly as expensive as some other models. With parts and labor, it should cost you between $300 and $400.
