What's the penalty for a hit and run in Virginia Beach?

I think I might have dinged someone’s car in a parking lot, but I didn’t stop because it didn’t seem like it left much of a mark. Now I’m worried about it, though! What will happen if I’m charged with a hit and run in Virginia Beach?

The penalty for a hit and run in
Virginia
Beach will depend on the severity of the damage and whether or not you were sober at the time of the accident. If you really just dinged someone’s car, you’ll probably be charged with a misdemeanor for the crime.
If you were
under the influence
at the time of the incident, however, you could be charged with a felony. Additionally, any injuries or deaths caused by a hit and run could increase the criminal charges to a felony.
