I’ve been looking into new cars for a while, and letting my husband help me with the shopping. We’re both BMW fans, but I like the look of the X3 better, and he prefers the X5. If I’m being honest, I can’t even tell the difference—what’s different about the 2020 BMW X3 vs. the 2020 BMW X5?

vs. the 2020 BMW X5, the differences lie predominantly below the surface:- The 2020 X3 comes standard with a 2.0L, four-cylinder engine, which can offer just under 250 hp.
- The 2020 X5, on the other hand, sports a 3.0L, turbo-charged 6-cylinder engine, and nearly doubles the X3’s horsepower.
As a result of its larger engine, the X5 is also a slightly bigger vehicle—-you’ll get a total of 72.3 cubic feet of storage in the X5, whereas the X3 will offer you slightly less at 62.7 cubic feet.
On the flip side, the X3 gets better gas mileage, with an average fuel economy of 25 city/29 highway miles per gallon. The X5, by contrast, gets 21 city/26 highway miles per gallon.
