I was putting on my new plates when I somehow wrecked the plastic screw holes on the top of my license plate bracket. What’s the cost of replacing a 2018 Audi A4 rear license plate bracket?

The cost of replacing a 2018 Audi A4 rear license plate bracket may be free (if your Audi is still under warranty) or up to $170 if you buy an OEM Audi rear license plate holder bracket. However, there are cheaper aftermarket brackets available.
Here are your two options:
- If your Audi is still under warranty, call your local dealer and explain the issue. It may be the case that Audi will replace the plate bracket, free of charge.
- Buy a new plate bracket and install it. A genuine Audi plate bracket will likely run between $122 to $170. You can find an inexpensive aftermarket (non-Audi-made) bracket for around $50 online.
The Audi engineers fix the plate holder bracket in place with two 20-mm torx screws—as well as adhesive tape—so you’ll want to be careful taking off an old/broken bracket. Otherwise, you risk scratching your paint.
If you decide to take off the old bracket and install the new one yourself, one trick is to leave your A4 out in the sun to loosen the adhesive. Take the process slow. Again, you don’t want to damage your paint.
