I’m interested in a Chevy Tahoe but don’t have the budget for a brand new SUV. What’s the best year for a used Chevy Tahoe?

The
Chevrolet Tahoe
has long been considered a reliable vehicle, and has many excellent model years to choose from. Tahoes from 2000, 2006, 2010, 2012, 2013, and 2014 are all excellent choices, but you’ll get the most value by looking for one manufactured between 2017 and 2021.
These newer models usually have lower mileage and therefore command a higher resale price—which could be invaluable if you think you might sell the car in a few years. Plus, most fourth-generation Tahoes include useful modern technology features like a backup camera, remote start, smartphone connectivity, automatic driving aids, and more.
Before you purchase any used car, make sure you take it on a test drive to identify any performance issues, as well as inspect the car’s interior, exterior, windows, and tires for visible damage. And if you want to be extra-cautious—or just want to ensure you don’t
end up with a lemon
—a licensed mechanic can perform a
pre-purchase car inspection
to identify hidden problems or defects.
