Well, we here at Jerry will take the high road by not addressing your husband’s alleged penny pinching, but to answer your question—the best times to visit Oahu, Hawaii
are from either mid-April to early June, or September to the middle of December. Both shoulder seasons that buttress Oahu’s high seasons are still great—the weather hovers from the mid-60s to the high 80s and there’s still plenty of sunshine during the “rainy” months. As well, hotel and airline prices are considerably lower during these times than during Hawaii’s peak tourist times (music to your husband’s ears, we’re sure).
So, what to do during the shoulder seasons on Oahu? Let us tell you:
Enjoy less crowded beaches thanks to the end of surf season, but still get wonderful start-of-summer weather
Catch sight of migrating Humpback whales during April and May
Enjoy a few, less crowded festivals in April and May, such as the enchanting Lantern Festival
Kick back and enjoy the beach and take a dip in the ocean
September to mid-December
Take advantage of smaller crowds to visit gorgeous Waikiki Beach and the majestic Diamond Head State Monument
Indulge in the Hawaii Food & Wine Festival, held each October
Strut your stuff during Honolulu Fashion Week, held annually every November (your husband can even show off his moth-infested cabana wear—just pretend you don’t know him)
Watch in awe at competitors taking part in Vans Triple Crown of Surfing held on the North Shore in November and December
Heading to Oahu during the offseason is a blessing—you’ll still get beautiful weather, without the huge crowds you get during the high seasons.
