What's the best Subaru for off-road?

I recently moved out to Utah, and I want to improve my off-roading skills. The only problem is that my old four-wheel-drive vehicle died. As a result, I’m thinking about buying a Subaru, but I want to make sure I buy the right one. What’s the best off-roading Subaru?

Since all of Subaru’s vehicles feature all-wheel drive and typically ride a bit higher than other vehicles, most are off-road capable—but one stands out more than the others. The best Subaru for off-road might just be the
Subaru Forester Wilderness
.
The Subaru Forester Wilderness debuted in 2022 amid a glut of praise from both critics and Subaru fans alike. It takes things like symmetrical all-wheel drive and higher ground clearance but adds off-road-specific features to make the vehicle a beast when you’re blazing new trails. Some of the top features of this model include:
  • An extra half-inch of ground clearance compared to the regular Subaru Forester trim
  • 180-degree front-view monitor
  • Dual-function X-mode, which allows you to pick three different drive modes—snow/dirt, snow/mud, and normal
If you’re serious about off-roading, you’ll also want to outfit your Forester with off-road tires. We recommend a set of BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2s which are great at handling off-road adventures while still being capable of on-road duties. Just make sure to tack on [towing and labor coverage] to your

policy in case you ever get stranded with a flat tire or an engine breakdown!
