Yosemite National Park is a gorgeous spot for your California family and friend reunion—enjoy!
Depending on which entrance you’re aiming for, the best route to Yosemite from San Francisco is generally as follows:
  • Take I-580 E to I-205 E
  • Continue onto CA-120 E straight into Yosemite’s northern entrance
While this is the fastest route into Yosemite, you can also take CA-140 E via Merced in place of CA-120 E if you’re staying at the Tenaya Lodge—which will take you into the south entrance near the lodge.
The total drive takes about 3.5 to 4 hours, so be sure to pack plenty of snacks and settle in for a cozy journey.
