What’s the best route to Destin from St. Louis?
I live in St. Louis right now and I’m hoping to surprise my family with a trip to Destin, Florida. What route should I plan to use to drive between these two locations?

- Take I-64 East out of St. Louis.
- Follow the signs for Interstate 57 S/Memphis until you reach exit 44.
- Continue onto I-24 East toward Nashville.
- Follow the signs for I-65 South.
- Continue onto AL-55 South.
- Follow the signs for US-29 S/Western Bypass, then turn onto AL-137 South.
- Continue onto FL-189 South, then follow the signs for Destin!
The trip will take you a little over 11 hours and 30 minutes in total, but if you switch drivers partway through you’ll be able to make it in one trip! If you’re the only driver, it’s a good idea to stop when you start to feel tired—for the safety of yourself and others in the car.
