I’m from St. Louis and I’ll be driving to Dallas soon. What’s the best route to get there?

The best route between
St. Louis
and
Dallas
if you want to make good time is the I-44 through
Springfield
to Route 69, near the town of Big Cabin in Oklahoma. From there, head south on Route 75 all the way to D-Town. This clocks in at about 9 hours and 50 minutes without stops.
But the fastest route is not necessarily the best route. If you have time and you want an adventure, why not get your kicks on Route 66?
Route 66 holds an important place in American history as one of the very first highways in the US Highway System, originally stretching from Chicago to Los Angeles. The highway has been featured in countless works like John Steinbeck’s The Grapes of Wrath and the 1983 hit movie The Outsiders.
The Mother Road was decommissioned in 1985, but sections of it have been well preserved by various Route 66 Associations. The stretch between Springfield, MO and
Tulsa
, OK is in particularly good condition.
Attractions to keep an eye out for on this stretch include:
  • Sidewalk Highway
  • The Rainbow Bridge
  • Allen’s Filling Station
If you’ve got a bit more time, check out some of the world-class attractions in Tulsa. Here are some of the things to see in Tulsey-Town:
  • The Gilcrease Museum
  • The Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame
  • The Oklahoma Aquarium
  • Tulsa Botanical Gardens
  • The Hard Rock Casino
From Tulsa, you can head south on Route 75 to Dallas. You’ll get there a little later—but with more stories and pictures.
