What’s the best route from San Diego to Palm Springs?

I’m helping my friend move from San Diego to Palm Springs. We will be towing a small trailer, but still want to get there as quickly as possible. What’s the best driving route from San Diego to Palm Springs?

Hopefully, the move goes smoothly! There are several ways you could take from
San Diego
 to
Palm Springs
, but the most direct way to do that is to head due north, and then cut straight east, as follows:
  • Merge onto I-15 North from San Diego
  • After about 50 miles, keep right at the fork to continue onto I-215 N (follow signs for Riverside/San Bernardino)
  • Take exit 29 and merge onto Hwy 60 East (Moreno Valley Fwy toward Beaumont/Indio)
  • Hwy 60 East becomes I-10—use any lane to merge
  • Take exit 111 toward Palm Springs
There will be plenty of opportunities to stop along Interstate I-15 to stretch and take a quick break in
