The best route from Salt Lake City to Yellowstone National Park follows I-15 N and US-20 E and takes about four and a half hours to complete. You’ll probably need to stop at least once to rest along the way, but you won’t need to spend the night anywhere unless you want to.
If you’d like, you could take a small detour and stop at Lava Hotsprings in Idaho. Relax in the hot springs, eat some lunch, and let your brain and body recharge before you continue driving the rest of the way to Yellowstone.
