What’s the best route from Phoenix to the Grand Canyon?
I’m planning a trip to the Grand Canyon. I live in Phoenix right now, and I’m hoping to get to the Grand Canyon in the shortest amount of time possible. What’s the best route?
to the Grand Canyon South Rim is only about three and a half hours long, so you can definitely do it in a day! To get to the Grand Canyon, you’ll want to follow this route:
Take I-10 W out of Phoenix, then Take exit 143A-143B to merge onto I-17 N toward Flagstaff.
Stay on I-17 N until you reach AZ-89A.
Take exit 340B to merge onto I-40 W toward Los Angeles.
After you’ve driven for a few miles, take exit 165 for Arizona 64/I-40 and follow the signs to the Grand Canyon.
Turn right onto AZ-64 N, which will take you the rest of the way there!
You may want to plan to spend a night in or near the park in order to break up your trip, so consider bringing some camping supplies with you to the park so you can rest and recover before driving home again.
