My husband and I are going on a big road trip this summer, and we’re starting in Kentucky and ending in California—what’s the best route to get there?

takes historic Route 66. It covers roughly 2,307 miles over 34 hours, not including stops.
Here are the basics of the trip:
  • Get on I-75 N from Lost Fork Rd and KY-627 S
  • Follow I-64 W, I-44 and I-40 W to CA-58 W in Barstow. Take exit 179 from I-15 S
  • Get on CA-58 W/CA-99 N in Bakersfield
  • Follow CA-99 N to Merritt Dr in Traver. Take exit 106B from CA-99 N
  • Take Rd 44/Brewer Dr, Rd 48, Rd 52, S Reed Ave and S Piedra Rd to your destination in Fresno County
