What’s the best route from Denver to Amarillo?

I’m planning a family road trip to Amarillo and I’m trying to decide which route would be the fastest. What route do you recommend to get us to Amarillo quickly?

If your goal is speed, the best route from
Denver
 to
Amarillo
, Texas is via I-25 S and US-87 S. Taking this route will get you there in about 6 hours and 45 minutes, so you’ll be able to make the drive in just one day.
If you’d like to stop along the way, however, I recommend stopping in Trinidad,
Colorado
. This town falls a little under halfway to Amarillo, but it’s a great place to stop for a long break, some lunch, and some stretching before continuing to your destination.
