What’s the best route from Dallas to Los Angeles?

Is there a route that will take me from Dallas to Los Angeles in one day, or do I need to plan for an overnight stay along the trip? I’m driving to LA next month and I’m trying to prepare as much as possible before I leave.

The best route from Dallas to Los Angeles is via I-20 W and I-10 W. Even on this route, however, you’ll need to spend at least one night on the road since the drive will take you just under 21 hours.
Consider the following itinerary for your road trip:
  1. Spend your first day driving the seven hours to Pecos, Texas.
  2. Next, drive for about seven and a half hours to Tucson, Arizona.
  3. On your final day, drive for about eight hours to your final destination!
