The best of both worlds, then! On the 2022 lineup, the best Jeep Cherokee for off-roading would probably be the Trail Rated Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk.
Why? According to Jeep, the Trail Rated Trailhawk has proven its off-road capabilities with the following characteristics in mind:
- Traction: The 4x4 all-wheel drive system helps apply the right amount of traction to the right tire as needed under varying terrain and weather conditions.
- Water fording: High air intake capability and specialized water sealing provide added protection when you need to navigate through water obstacles (but obviously, you’d still want to do so with caution).
- Maneuverability and articulation: Precise handling helps you maintain control on the path and maneuver over and around challenging obstacles.
- Ground clearance: A higher ride height makes it easier to pass over large obstacles when necessary while lowering the risk of damaging your undercarriage.
Another solid off-road option would be the 2022 Jeep Cherokee X, which has a ride height of 8.7 inches—a full inch more of ground clearance than the standard model. It also comes standard with 17-inch all-terrain tires and an assortment of features to hold up in varying weather conditions.
