What’s the best driving route from Chicago to Washington, D.C.?

I want to visit Washington, D.C. with my kids because they’re homeschooled and haven’t gotten to do field trips like other kids their age. What’s the best way to drive to D.C. from Chicago?

That’s a great idea! The best driving route from
Chicago
to Washington, D.C. is via I-90 E and I-76. The trip should take about 10 and a half hours of driving so you’ll probably want to stop once along the way, especially if you’ll be the only one driving!
One fun place to stop along the way is
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
. Pittsburgh is about seven hours from Chicago and about four hours from Washington, D.C., so it’s a great stop to make your trip a little more manageable.
