The best route from Chicago,
Illinois
to Orlando is along I-65 S, I-24 E and I-75 S, a trip that will take 20 hours 45 minutes driving time, and will cover 1,320 miles.Here are the highlights to see before your wife and kids head off in search of fun and leave you high dry clutching a smoked turkey leg in one hand, and frozen pineapple Dole whip in the other (we here at Jerry think those are decent consolation prices, FWIW)! Split this trip into a few days in order to see the sites!
- LeaveChicago**—after a delicious lunch of hot-diggity dogs at **The Wieners Circle in Lincoln Park—and hop onto I-65 S
- Pass through Indianapolis,Indianaand make a pitstop at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum to be awash in the glory of the country’s greatest race car drivers
- Arrive in Louisville,Kentuckyfor a Mint Julep (while we’re sure the kids would love them, please don’t give them one) and pay a visit to legendary Churchill Downs, home of the Kentucky Derby

- Hit I-24 E and pass through Atlanta,Georgiaand get the kids a Frosted Orange—an Atlanta staple (a creamsicle in milkshake form)—at the Varsity
- Motor through Georgia and stop in Gainesville, where the kids can run off the sugar on the beautiful grounds of the University of Florida
