What’s the 2006 Nissan Altima’s oil type?
I bought a used 2006 Nissan Altima from my friend not too long ago. It’s still running great, but it’s time for its first oil change—with me at least. What kind of oil does this car take?

Congrats on the new-to-you car! The 2006 Nissan Altima takes 5W30 viscosity oil.
The 2006 Nissan Altima has two engine options: a 2.5-liter inline-4 and a 3.5-liter V6. Both have a capacity of 4.4 quarts with the
oil filter
. SAE 5W-30 is preferred—if you can buy full synthetic motor oil, it will provide the
best lubrication
and keep your engine running its best. You can use conventional, but you may notice a dip in your Altima’s performance. Here’s a short list of the best oils you can use in your 2006 Nissan Altima:
- Mobil 1 Extended Performance Full Synthetic Motor Oil 5W-30
- Pennzoil Platinum Full Synthetic Motor Oil 5W-30
