I’m looking to buy an electric vehicle next year, and am most interested in the Tesla Model Y. What’s new for the 2023 model year?

For 2023, Tesla enhanced the base model of its ever-popular
Model Y
sedan with a new-and-improved 4680 battery cell, which offers an increased battery range of 279 miles.
Other than that, no changes have been made to this trusty Tesla—but here are some of the Model Y’s other stand-out features:
  • Maximum battery range of 330 miles
  • Acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds
  • All-wheel drive
  • Optional third row of seats
  • Infotainment system with a large touchscreen, built-in navigation, and apps for streaming movies or video games while the car is parked
  • Wireless charging for two devices
  • All-glass panoramic roof
  • Power-adjustable heated seats and steering wheel
  • Semi-autonomous driving tech, such as lane keeping assistance, parking assistance, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, and more
For the base model, Tesla is pricing its 2023 Model Y at $52,600—but the Long Range and Performance versions will cost you more: $54,000 and $58,000, respectively.
