cargo space capacity is 37.6 cubic feet behind the second row of seats and 69.8 cubic feet with the second row folded down.That’s decent, but let’s take a look to see how the RAV4 compares to its compact crossover SUV classmates:
- Chevy Equinox: 29.9 cubic feet / 63.9 cubic feet
- Kia Sportage: 30.7 cubic feet / 60.1 cubic feet
- Mazda CX-5: 30.9 cubic feet / 59.6 cubic feet
- Hyundai Tucson: 31 cubic feet / 61.9 cubic feet
- Subaru Forester: 31.1 cubic feet / 76.1 cubic feet
- Ford Escape: 33.5 cubic feet / 65.4 cubic feet
- Volkswagen Tiguan: 37.6 cubic feet / 73.5 cubic feet
- Honda CR-V: 39.2 cubic feet / 75.8 cubic feet

Looking at these numbers, the Toyota RAV4 has the third-most cargo space behind the second row of seating. Only the Honda CR-V and the Nissan Rogue have more. But, in terms of overall cargo space, the Subaru forester takes the cake with 76.1 cubic feet of available storage compared to the RAV4’s 69.8—good for fifth-best.
